Get help on making international calls and sending mobile recharge

  • You can either dial the QuickDial number that we will give you during account setup or you can dial an access number and then your international number. Please click here for dialing instructions.
  • We assign you with an access number for PIN-less dialing based on your area code. You can find your Personal Access Number by logging into My Account and it will be displayed on your account dashboard. If you don’t have a Personal Access Number, please contact customer service at 1-800-836-5004.
  • You will not be asked to enter a PIN when using your Personal Access Number from any number registered on your account. It also adds an extra layer of security on your account. Since the access number is based on your area code, we try our best to make this a local call for you but cannot guarantee it for all locations in the U.S. Please make sure your service provider doesn't consider this a long distance number that may result in additional charges.
  • Please make sure you are calling from a phone number registered on your account. If not, you will be asked to enter a PIN. You can register any number to your account from the Account Users page in My Account. You can also give us a call at 1-800-836-5004 and we can help you.

  • Before making any calls, please check with your service provider to ensure they don't consider it a long distance call which would result in additional charges. To avoid any such charges, use our toll free access number 1-800-836-5006. VIP is not liable for any such charges.
  • Yes, any user registered on your account can use it for PIN-less dialing.
  • Please try your call again with your Personal Access Number if you can’t connect. Sometimes due to the complex nature of telephony networks calls don't complete due to some temporary issue. If you still encounter an issue, please contact live customer service at 1-800-836-5004. We will help identify and resolve your issue.
  • You can either select from international numbers already saved in your phone's contact list or dial an international number from the Keypad screen. When tapping to initiate a call in the app, you will have the option to choose from two calling methods: 'Dial Using WiFi/Mobile Data' or 'Dial Using Access Number'.
  • This option uses a mobile internet connection to connect with the VIP network which provides excellent quality when your WiFi/Mobile Data signal is strong. Use this to avoid using your cellular minutes. Calls are charged from your VIP account balance. If you don't have access to WiFi, Mobile Data will be used instead.
  • When you don't have access to WiFi or Mobile Data, our app will connect with the VIP network by dialing an access number with your phone plan. The access number is automatically dialed for you and this method is referred to as Call-Through. Calls are charged from your VIP account balance.
  • When you first install the app, it will request permission to access your phone contacts so they appear in the app.
  • No, internet is not required to make international calls with the app. In the case where you don't have WiFi or Mobile Data, you will use the calling method Call-Through, which you will select with 'Dial Using Access Number' when you tap to call an international number or contact.
  • You need to add credit to your account to continue calling with VIP.
  • You can enable call recording directly in the app after choosing the calling method 'Dial Using WiFi/Mobile Data'. There is a record button that you can tap to start recording a call through the app. The option is not available when using the Call-Through or 'Dial Using Access Number' calling option.
  • First, tap the History icon (which looks like a clock) to access your call history. You will then find the call and click on the information icon on the far right. Next you will see a play button where you can listen to the call. You can also share on Android or send by email on iPhone.
  • This action will send out a call and connect to the VIP network using the Call-Through method, which is the calling option 'Dial Using Access Number'. This method is intended for use when you don't have access to WiFi or Mobile Data.
  • On the Keypad screen, if there is no number entered and you tap the call button, the app will auto-fill your last dialed number.
  • You will see this error message when attempting the Call-Through method without a phone provider. To use Call-Through or 'Dial Using Access Number' calling method, you must have a phone provider plan.
  • No, you must make calls directly from the app by selecting a saved number from the Contacts screen or by dialing an international number from the Keypad screen. If you send out a call through your phone's native dialer, it will use your phone provider instead of the VIP network. It's strongly recommended to block all outgoing international calls with your phone provider to prevent any unnecessary charges.
  • Please make sure you are dialing with a 1 prefix for certain countries in North America, such as Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and more. All other countries outside of North America should be dialed with + or 011 prefix.
  • Please contact customer service for support at 1-800-836-5004. The reason your calls are not connecting could be due to an issue on the far end in the destination you are trying to reach. We can troubleshoot the call for you and see why it's failing.

  • If you are calling from the U.S. use the Direct Access number: 703-796-8000. This will give you the best possible rate.
  • Please note, dialing the access number from your mobile device uses your network minutes. Typically, these minutes will be included in your mobile service plan and therefore not cost you anything additional. Please check with your mobile service provider to ensure you do not get charged for dialing the VIP access number.
  • When you set up your account, simply register your mobile number. You won’t need to use a PIN when dialing from your registered number.
  • You will be asked to register your CLI when you open your account. If you wish to register more CLI’s please visit the Users section of our customer website.
  • QuickDial allows you to dial one local number to connect to your international contacts instantly. You can save the number in your phone contacts for the quickest way to dial. No need to enter a PIN or a long international number. Please visit the Contacts section in My Account to register your international contacts. Each contact will be assigned a QuickDial number.
  • Yes, using QuickDial®. Please visit the Contacts section of our customer website to register your contact’s international numbers and get your QuickDial® numbers. Simply save a QuickDial® in your phone's contact list and dial directly - there's no need to dial an access number.
  • VIP works in over 40 countries and is designed for use with local phones in each country. VIP strongly advises against using the VIP services from a mobile phone that is roaming internationally. Such usage will lead to international roaming fees from your mobile service provider.

  • You can re-credit using our automated IVR by calling Customer Service and selecting the automated re-crediting service.

  • Payphone surcharges are mandated by the FCC and are charged by Pay Phone providers for calls to free phone numbers. VIP collects this charge and passes to the payphone providers. The current payphone surcharge collected is 55¢ per call.
  • An international number is made up of an international prefix, a country code, an area code and the local number. For example, the number to call from the US to Ireland will look like this:

IMPORTANT
If you have a nationwide plan with your mobile or home service provider that includes national calls, use the Direct Access number. If not use the Toll Free Access Number. Please check with your service provider to ensure you do not get charged for dialing the VIP access number.

  • Use the international prefix used in the country where you are dialing from. If you are calling from the US use 011 followed by country code. From the UK use 00 followed by country code. For example:
    • From the US: 011-27-111234567
    • From the UK: 00-27-111234567
  • If you are using the VIP app for Android or iPhone (VIPConnect), you use + instead of the international prefix. You can also use 011 or 00 from any location.
  • Visit the Country Codes section of the VIP website to look up the correct code.
  • In general you will need to remove the country prefix. The country prefix is usually a leading 0. For example, if the local number is 0302212345, typically you will need to remove the leading 0 and add the international prefix and country code to get 011-233-302212345
  • PINless dialing allows you to make international calls without having to enter a PIN. When you register your phone number, we will recognize you through your CLI (Caller ID) and connect your calls without asking for a PIN.
  • You will be asked to register your phone number when you set up your VIP account.
  • Visit the User section of our customer website, select the user you wish to add a number to, click the actions icon and select edit. Click ‘Add Phone Number’ and enter your number.
  • Visit the User section of our customer website, select ‘Add A User’ and complete your user’s details.
  • QuickDial allows you to dial one local number to connect to your international contacts instantly. You can save the number in your phone contacts for the quickest way to dial. No need to enter a PIN or a long international number. Please visit the Contacts section in My Account to register your international contacts. Each contact will be assigned a QuickDial number.
  • Visit the Contacts section in My Account, click ‘Add a New Contact’ and enter your contact’s name and phone number. We will provide you with a QuickDial number for that contact. Just dial one number and connect - no need to enter PIN or international number.
  • You can setup nine QuickDial numbers.
  • Yes! Simply add the QuickDial number and dial directly from your phone contacts. There's no need to dial an access number.
  • Visit the Contacts section in My Account, click the actions icon and select edit. Enter your contact’s new number and click save.
  • Visit the Contacts section in My Account, click the actions icon and select remove.
  • Visit the App Store and search for VIPConnect.
  • Yes, it’s completely free to download and you get a free 5 minute call to test it out.
  • VIPConnect integrates with your phone so that you can dial directly from your contacts and recent calls.
  • Download the app for free and follow the instructions to get a 5 minute free call to anywhere in the world.
  • Once you have downloaded the app, you can simply add credit at any time and carry on using the VIP service. If you prefer, you can also call us to open your account.

  • Click the login tab at the top of the app, enter your phone number and your password. If you have lost your password, please go here to reset it.

  • Yes. Simply open your dialer and dial your international number or select an international number from your contacts. A pop-up box will appear asking you to confirm you wish to call using VIP. Confirm you want to use VIP and your call will go over the VIP network.
  • Call intercept is a feature that allows the VIPConnect app to intercept any international call that you dial and send it out over the VIP network. You can turn intercept off in the setup tab of VIPConnect. If you turn this feature off, all calls will go out over your service provider.
  • No. VIPConnect works across your service provider’s voice network. It dials the VIP access number and then your international number. This ensures you get the best possible call quality and means you do not have to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to use the VIP service.
  • Simply click on the balance tab and then click the Re-Credit button and follow the instructions. To make it even simpler, logon to your account at www.joinvip.com and set up Automatic Re-crediting.
  • Direct line Ghana is an exclusive service provided by VIP in partnership with Vodafone Ghana. It is a local Ghana number that we allocate to you. Your friends and family in Ghana can call the number for free from a Vodafone landline or mobile and the call is charged to your VIP account at an incredibly low rate. Click here for the current Direct Line Ghana rate. If you friends and family call from another network they will be charged for a local call.
  • The current rate is 9.9¢ for $US accounts and 7.9p for £UK accounts.
  • New Customers – Visit our signup page and get your Direct Line Ghana number in a couple of minutes.
  • Existing customers - Visit the Direct Line section of our customer website and click the Add a New Direct Line button.
  • Simply give them your Direct Line Ghana number and have them dial it from their Ghana mobile or landline.
  • If they call from a Vodafone mobile or landline the call is free for them. If they call from any other network, they will be charged only for a local call to your Ghana number.
  • Make sure your friends know your Direct Line Ghana number. Agree with them that you will call their number and hang up after two rings. This is the signal for them to call you back. This will save you more than 50% on all your calls.
  • Visit the Direct Line section of our customer website and click the Edit button for your Direct Line Ghana number. Simply edit the ‘Forward to’ number.
  • Mobile recharge is a service that allows you to send credit to your friends’ and family’s pre-paid mobile phones in over 100 countries.

    • Enter the mobile number and the amount you want to send

  • Yes. Your transaction is securely encrypted from the moment you log into the VIP website and remains secure until the Mobile Recharge reaches the far end.

Local taxes are applied by a local entity or authority such as a state, country, municipality or local operator. They cover one, several or of all of the following: local operator fees, VAT, specific municipality taxes or national taxes in the country. These taxes vary per country. Local taxes are not under the control of VIP Communications.

  • A user is someone you allow to make calls on your account. You will be the primary user, and you can add as many other users as you like.

  • By entering your user’s phone number to your account, you will register it and your user will be able to make calls seamlessly from their phone.
  • Visit the User section of our customer website, select the user, click the actions icon and select ‘Edit’. Enter the new phone number and click ‘save’.
  • A PIN will allow your users to make calls from phones that are not registered on your account.
  • Visit the Call History section of our customer website and view the call history by user’s name or phone number.
  • Visit the User section of our customer website, select the user, click the actions icon and select ‘Remove’.
  • Login to your VIP account and visit the Re-credit page. If you want to repeat your last transaction, check the details and click submit. If you want to use a different payment method, click edit details and select your new payment method.

  • Visit the Payment History section of our customer website, select your date range and click search
  • Yes. You can sort your payment history by type to see re-credits and bonuses
  • Email subscriptions allow you to choose which emails you wish to receive from VIP
  • Visit the Email and Subscriptions section of our customer website. Check or uncheck the email group you wish to change
  • There are four categories of emails that we send to our customers. Rate change emails, promotions related to your VIP account, promotions related to other VIP services and promotions for services offered by VIP’s affiliates
  • Yes. Simply check the groups you wish to subscribe to and uncheck the ones you don’t want
  • Yes! Your personal referrals are very important to us. If they open an account for $25 or more, we will credit your account $10. If they open an account for $10 or more but less than $25, we will credit your account $5.
  • Use our Refer A Friend tool to send an email invite to your friends. When they click on the link and open an account, we will automatically credit your account with your referral bonus. Your friends can also call our Customer Service Center and open account. When they quote your phone number, we will automatically credit your account with your referral bonus
